Are you Using your Weight as a Distraction from your life: From FAT to Flab

It's less than 60 days into the New Year and I often wonder how many of my female peers find themselves consumed with thoughts of their thighs, their hips, if they'll ever walk up a flight of stairs, again, without getting out of breath or if they'll ever have a flat stomach again? How many women are buying the clothes they really want versus the ones that will fit. How many of us are comparing ourselves either to our former younger selves or to other women; regardless of if these other women are celebrities or the girl next door. No pun intended. I find myself more consumed with all of the above thoughts more now that I'm in my 40's than I ever did in my 20's. I wonder if living in L.A...LaLa land has anything to do with this. After all, I didn't even know I had small breast until I moved here. I had no idea. It was pointed out to me by a 7th grader I was teaching Hip-Hop dance to. WTFreak! I moved here from Houston, Tx, over 17 years ago, where women my size...size 8 up to size 14,16 and 18 were considered thick and fine my men. Where are those men today? lol. More importantly, why are WE letting the opinion of men dictate what size we should be? Are WE not the trendsetters in our health and fitness lives? As a personal fitness trainer, writer and youth advocate, I meet many women, both young and not so young, who have questions about how they can lose this or lose that, tighten this and tighten that. I no longer give them generic eating solutions, tips or suggestions. I now spend time asking them questions like: . Who told you how you look isn't okay? . What are you eating? When? and Why? . If I told you that you could get the fat off and keep it off, do YOU believe you can? . What is your ideal of fit? etc. This next statement may be a hard pill to swallow; however, if people really knew what it took to get and stay fit, they wouldn't do it. That is why there is such a disproportionate number of overweight women and children in this country; especially in the African-American and Latin communities. We're literally eating ourselves to death. It amazes me how often I see financially challenging people being the most overweight people. That's because cheap and processed food kills. Diets don't work. What works is a change in your belief system. What works is getting REALLY honest with yourself. What works is putting in the time and doing the work. What works is asking Yourself the right questions. We all know the answers. However, we're not asking the right questions. Some of us are using our weight as an excuse not to live a full life. Some of us are using are weight as an excuse not to date. Some of us are using our weight as a reason to not get out there and be our Fierce, Fabulous and Amazing women WE are. So, here's your assignment if you are ready to accept this mission. Ask and answer these questions for yourself: . What doe the fit, healthy, fit fabulous and sexy version of YOU look like? . What kind of clothes does she wear? . What kind of person doe she date or is married to? . What kind of books does she read? . Where does she work? . Where does she live . What does she do for FUN? . How does she walk? . What do I want? What am I willing to do to get what I want? Now, have the strong and deep desire to create her. Rome was not built in a day; therefore your new self will take time. As long as you have breath in your body, you may as well enjoy the journey. After all, shouldn't it be fun. Success is NOT convenient...but Possible for those who believe they can have it. Ya Hollywood Fitness Go2Gurl Fee King feesiques@yahoo.com www.facebook.com/uniquefeesiques
